Mil Palavras ("we", "us", or "our") is a free European Portuguese vocabulary and language trainer accessible at milpalavras.lovable.app. We believe in privacy by default and collect only the absolute minimum information required to deliver the learning experience.

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data. We collect data in two ways:

Optional Account Information: When you sign in to save your personal deck across sessions, we collect your email address solely to send one-time authentication codes (OTP / magic links). We do not require names, passwords, phone numbers, or payment information.

Your Saved Study Data: If you are signed in, your saved translations and sentences, learning progress, streak, story challenge, study settings and session history are stored securely in your account so they can be restored after clearing browser data or changing devices. Guest activity is not backed up; only the current guest session is carried into an account at sign-in.

Local Device Storage (No Ad Cookies): If you use the app as a guest, your card progress, streaks, and review scores are saved locally in your own browser (localStorage). We do not use third-party advertising cookies, trackers, or marketing pixels.

Anonymous App Telemetry: We record basic, non-identifying operational counts (such as total words practiced or sessions completed) to monitor server stability and improve the curriculum.

All Portuguese pronunciation audio is generated locally on your device using your browser’s native speech synthesis (Web Speech API). We do not record, transmit, or store any voice or microphone audio.

When you submit a word or sentence for translation or grammar checking, that text is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to our AI processing providers solely to generate the Portuguese response. Text is not used to train advertising profiles.

Your data is transmitted over encrypted SSL/TLS connections and stored on secure cloud database infrastructure. We implement standard security practices to protect your information against unauthorized access.

The right to request the correction or permanent deletion of your account and saved words.

The right to withdraw consent or stop using the service at any time.
